SOUNDTRACK COMPOSITION

Footsteps of the Returned: Original Soundtrack

An early album written as part of a Sonic the Hedgehog fan manga project, currently on hiatus. Contains mainly original pieces, with some material arranged from Sonic the Hedgehog titles. Any rearranged content is credited in the track description.

13 Tracks, 2016

01 - Melancholy

A reflective piece for a sombre moment, leading with a violin and a piano. Gradually builds up and finishes on a note of hope. Rearranged from "His World" (Sonic the Hedgehog, 2006).

02 - Sinister

Background for a lonely and threatening scene. Instrumented with piano and some synths.

03 - Downtime

Cheesy organ, guitar and saxophone comprise a jaunty track with a twelve-bar blues structure.

04 - Grief

Music for when something terrible has pushed a character into despair. Mainly uses strings, music box, and choir.

05 - Victory

A happy piece, expressing a joyous moment. Piano and orchestra led by flute and trumpets. Rearranged from "Reach for the Stars" (Sonic Colours, 2010).

06 - Resurrection

Accompaniment for a peaceful location, instrumented with harp and flute, with a more sinister middle section leading back into harmony. The main theme is reprised at the end with piano only.

07 - Looking Forward (Credits)

A closing song with vocals, using MIDI guitar and synthesized pad. The lyrics are about a character moving ahead into the future.

08 - Exposition

Music for when something important is being explained, or preparations are being made before an action scene. Uses bass, piano and drums.

09 - Casual

A laid-back piece for a relaxed and fun moment. Solo violin and guitar over piano, rearranged from "Bridge Zone" (Sonic the Hedgehog 8-bit version, 1991).

10 - Reminiscence

Background for a flashback, with tranquility at the beginning before changing key and becoming ominous as the subject remembers a tragic experience. Ends with a return to the present and the original key.

11 - Danger

Synthesizer and orchestra combine for an epic piece rearranged from "Undersea Palace" (Chrono Trigger, 1995). Tension rises and falls from section to section as the scene shifts.

12 - Running (ft. Warbs)

An opening song with vocals reflecting a plucky protagonist with a go-get attitude, sung by guest singer Warbs, with a brief guitar solo at the end.

13 - Predator (They Are With Me)

A hybrid piece combining soundtrack in the first half with a rock song in the second half. For a scene where the protagonist approaches their enemy for the final battle, and proceeds to take them on after the midpoint of the music.
